AffStackDev Help

Updates

Once a plugin's license is active, WordPress offers its new releases like any other update. Each release is checked before it is installed.

How updates reach you

After you activate the license, the plugin tells WordPress when a newer release exists. It then appears under Dashboard → Updates and on the Plugins screen, with View details showing what changed. Install it the way you install any plugin update.

A release is signed by AffStackDev. Before WordPress installs it, the plugin checks that signature and the contents of the file; a file that was changed on the way is refused.

What an update keeps

An update replaces the plugin's program files. Your settings, records and customer data stay. You do not need to deactivate anything first.

Careful: Never delete a plugin to "reinstall" it as a way of updating. Deleting can remove its data. Update, or upload the new ZIP over the old one.

When no update is offered

Situation What to do
The license is not active or is on hold Open the plugin's License screen and resolve what it shows. Updates need an active license.
The Suite It has no key, so download its new release from My Account → Downloads and upload it.
A very old installation A site that still runs a build from before October 2026 installs the current release once by upload; after that updates arrive by themselves.
You want it now The License screen has an action that checks for updates at once instead of waiting for WordPress's next check.

Version numbers

AffStackDev versions have three numbers, for example 1.0.2. The number in WordPress's plugin list and the number in the guide are the same.

Before a larger update

Make a backup of the database and the files together, as you would before any update of a store. Try it on your test copy first if the update changes something you rely on; your license covers that copy.
