Orient the image

Rotate or flip the source before you decide how to frame it.

Choose the crop

Use a centered aspect ratio or a custom rectangle to frame the part of the image you need.

Set the output size

Resize with the aspect ratio retained. Image Manager avoids enlarging the source beyond its available dimensions.

Preview first, save a copy

  1. Open a supported image from the Library and choose its editing action.
  2. Set rotation or flipping, then the crop and final size.
  3. Choose Prepare preview and compare the full-resolution result.
  4. Choose Save edited copy, then select the new attachment in the page or product that needs it.

The source attachment and its existing uses remain intact. The new attachment receives a unique file, supported metadata and organization, edit lineage and WordPress-generated image sizes.

Match the format to the host

Editing supports JPEG, PNG, WebP and AVIF when the site’s WordPress image editor can process that format. Tools shows the capabilities available on your hosting.

Previews are private and temporary. If the source changes or a preview expires, prepare a fresh preview before saving. This keeps the saved copy tied to the image and settings you actually reviewed.

Continue with the new image

Choose the edited attachment where you want it to appear. Once it is associated with public content, you can prepare optimized copies and review delivery for that use. For a replacement that keeps the original attachment ID, use the separate recovery-backed replacement workflow.
