Choose one page and its size
Open a PDF in the Library and choose the conversion action. Select the page number, then a maximum edge of 1,280, 1,920 or 2,560 pixels. The default is 1,920 pixels, with the page’s proportions preserved.
The result is a flattened image of the chosen page. It is useful for a document cover, a diagram or a visual excerpt. The PDF’s selectable text, interactive fields and links remain in the original document.

From private preview to a new attachment
- Select the PDF and the page to convert.
- Choose the output size and prepare a preview.
- Review the rendered page for legibility and the correct page selection.
- Save the PNG as a separate Media Library item and choose it in your content.
The PDF, its URL and links to it are preserved. You can place the new PNG beside a link to the original document when visitors need both a visual and the full file.
Conversion runs on your hosting
PDF conversion requires Imagick with a permitted, working PDF/Ghostscript delegate. Image Manager checks that capability and does not send the document to an external conversion service or change the host’s security policy.
Source size, rendered dimensions and host resources limit the pages that can be converted. When conversion is unavailable, the original PDF stays usable in WordPress.
Put the image to work
Add descriptive alt text to the new attachment, choose it in the intended page or product, and review its display at the actual size. Once it is used publicly, the resulting PNG can enter the normal image optimization workflow.
