Make a large library easier to browse

Combine a media search with File type, Folder and Collection filters. Search filenames, titles and captions, switch between Grid and List, and sort by date, title, file type or recent updates. Each result page contains up to thirty attachments.

The library includes WordPress-recorded images, PDFs, documents, audio, video and archives. Actions depend on the selected file type, so a PDF can open the conversion workflow while a supported image can open the editor or optimizer.

Organize without changing file addresses

Virtual folders

Create a folder hierarchy for projects, product ranges or campaigns. Add a folder association or use Move to replace the selected items’ folder associations.

Overlapping collections

Group media by a shared use such as homepage, seasonal campaign or press kit. One attachment can belong to more than one collection.

Reviewed bulk changes

Select the visible items and apply the chosen organization action. Dragging toward a folder prepares the change for review before it is applied.

Labels you can change

Rename or delete an organization label as the library evolves. Removing a folder or collection leaves the attachments and their files in place.

Upload and update in context

Upload up to eight files directly into a selected folder using WordPress’s normal file validation and upload limits. Use Quick details to see the preview, dimensions, file size and native edit links before choosing the next action.

Update supported titles, captions and default alt text deliberately. Select the fields to change; alt text already written into a content block remains part of that block.

Pick up where you left off

Enhanced browsing remembers filters, layout, sort order, page position and checked items for recent library result pages in the current browser tab. Selection remains tied to the pages you reviewed.

Prefer a simpler interface? Disable enhanced navigation and live progress to use standard forms. Browsing the library does not start an optimization or backup job.

Put your media workflow in order

Start with the library, follow the setup guide or choose the recovery options that fit your site.
