A predictable order of precedence

ScopeWithin that scope
1. Business accountProduct exception, then matching active price book, then the account percentage.
2. Assigned business groupProduct exception, then matching active price book, then the business group percentage.
3. Business defaultsProduct exception, then matching active price book, then the default percentage.

The first applicable decision wins. Lower scopes do not add another discount. An account percentage, including zero, wins before a product exception in a lower business group scope. Leave a percentage blank to inherit.

Decision order

The first applicable pricing scope wins

  1. Account

Product exception, active book, then the account percentage.

  2. Business group

Use the assigned business group when the account inherits.

  3. Business defaults

Use the shared defaults when the higher scopes inherit.

An explicit 0% is an account decision. A blank percentage inherits.

Choose the amount and its basis

Percentage terms

Calculate from the regular product price, or choose the active WooCommerce sale price with a regular-price fallback.

Exact product prices

Set an exact unit amount or percentage exception for all businesses, a business group or one account. A variation exception outranks its parent within the same scope.

Named business groups

Use names such as Dealer or Distributor and assign common commercial terms. Names do not install preset discounts.

Payment and delivery choices

Restrict eligible native payment or shipping methods through business defaults and business group settings. WooCommerce still checks the address, zone and gateway.

A simple price example

For a product with a regular price of 100, a 10% default gives 90. A 15% business group gives 85 when the account inherits. A 20% account override gives 80; an explicit account 0% gives 100. These are examples of precedence, not installed prices.

Business decisions leave saved public product prices unchanged. Unit amounts follow the store’s price-entry tax basis, while WooCommerce calculates final tax and rounding.

Add quantity and contract pricing

Use price books for scheduled agreements, volume and graduated bands, cart adjustments and dedicated business coupon amounts. Work in one store currency; changing currency requires reviewing the affected terms.
