See the gift in the native order
A valid gift becomes an ordinary WooCommerce product order line with a zero subtotal and total. Its attribution records the product or variation, promotion name, source and reference value.
Order summaries group gifts by promotion. Staff can review them in order administration, while customers can see the supplied summaries in order details and the WooCommerce order emails that include them.
The recorded gift name and identity remain useful history when you rename or disable an offer.
Treat gifts as real inventory
WooCommerce manages stock reduction, stock holds, cancellation, refunds and restocking. A free line still represents a real product, and Free Gifts & BOGO does not alter its stored catalog price or maintain a separate inventory balance.
For failed orders with attributed gifts, Free Gifts & BOGO uses WooCommerce’s normal stock restoration and reservation-release operations. The order view helps staff review the current inventory state.
Review refunds when a gift remains
Control refund-review notes and retain promotion data when removing the plugin.
When paid merchandise is refunded while a gift may remain, Free Gifts & BOGO can add a private refund-review note. Use the order’s gift attribution, status and refund history to apply your published offer terms.
The note calls for review. It does not charge the gift’s reference value, reduce a gateway refund or create a customer debt. Your staff retain the normal WooCommerce refund controls.
The Refund review warning setting controls automatic notes. Store Credit or another referral program continues to manage its own reward and balance rules.
Use the order as the transaction record
Promotion reports summarize attributed orders, while the WooCommerce order retains the charged amounts, payment status and refund history. Open that record when investigating an unusual gift or a report difference.
