Your catalog remains yours
One normal product. Clear purchase choices.
Create a draft from Gift Cards, then use WooCommerce to manage the title, copy, image, catalog visibility and price. Store Credit’s product controls define the issued value, recipient behavior, expiry and later redemption policy.

| Value mode | An example |
|---|---|
| Price equals credit | The current eligible product price is also the credit value. |
| Separate fixed face value | Charge $25 and issue $30 because you deliberately configured that offer. |
| Preset denominations | Offer a set such as $25, $50 and $100. |
| Customer-entered amount | Accept an amount on your configured minimum-based increment grid. |
Examples are merchant choices, not the price of this software. Credit-sale products are virtual simple products with a positive base price and the supported Tax status: None setting. Variable credit-sale products are not supplied in this edition. Software tax settings do not determine your legal tax obligations.
Send to the right person
Self-purchase, optional gifts or required recipients.
Purchaser only
The instrument goes to the purchasing account, or the permitted billing email for a guest.
Optional gifting
Let the shopper leave the recipient empty for self-use or provide someone else’s email.
Required recipient
Require a gift recipient, with a customer-facing message under the supported size limit.
One cart line carries one recipient and message. Add the product separately for different people. Quantity two creates two instruments for that line’s recipient, not one doubled balance. Product and order quantity limits prevent split cart lines from bypassing the permitted number of credit units.
Set supported expiry terms and send the gift email immediately or on a scheduled date. Delivery retries retain the original purchased instrument rather than issuing additional value.
Paid purchase to funded credit
Keep the original purchase terms attached.
The product selection is validated on the server and its value, owner and spending policy are frozen with the order. Later product changes do not rewrite a gift someone already bought. Stale cart selections may need to be removed and re-added after relevant product changes.
Purchased value issues after the required paid state and paid date. Pending, on-hold and failed orders do not issue new purchased credit. Cash-on-delivery waits for Completed rather than assuming Processing proves collection.
Each purchased unit has a permanent issuance identity. Repeated callbacks recover that same unit. An interruption after one of two units commits can issue the missing unit without recreating the first. Notification failures likewise do not remove already-funded value.
Protect the value cycle
Credit cannot fund another credit purchase.
Both ordinary coupons and Store Credit are excluded from credit-sale product lines. Permitted discounts can still apply to other eligible merchandise in the basket. Free Gifts & BOGO or third-party price overrides must not turn those protected lines into free reusable credit.
For a refund on an order that sold credit, use the explicit stop-and-revoke preparation before the normal Woo refund. It stops future issuance and revokes unused purchased value; it does not return cash itself. Reserved or already-used value needs review.
The current refund guard is whole-order, including a partial refund intended for other goods in a mixed order. It is not item-specific gift-unit refund allocation. A permanently stopped purchase does not silently reactivate if the cash refund is abandoned.
Theme and form compatibility
Product-entry forms and checkout are different surfaces.
Normal WooCommerce product-form hooks supply the amount, recipient and message inputs. A block product template that omits those hooks can use the supplied purchase shortcode for a configured credit-sale product. Cart/Checkout Blocks can stay in use.
Use the supported native form or shortcode and verify its fields on your theme. A custom Store API client needs the documented purchase-field transport; the plugin does not invent visual fields inside every third-party block.
